René is a business development executive with global experience: Six years of successful transatlantic relationship-building in the USA as Director of Marketing at the German Chamber of Commerce in Atlanta (2001-2004) and Managing Director in San Francisco (2004- 2007).
“Berlin’s best salesman” as CEO of Berlin Partner (2007-2011) where he started the “be Berlin” campaign and managed with his team over 500 Investments and created over 20.000 new jobs for Berlin. When he left Berlin Partner he had created Germany´s most successful investment promotion agency with over 130 people staff. He created a long term strategy for the City of Berlin under the name “Berlin Partner 2020” which led to the very successful developments in place today.

In Feb 2012 Berlin was named “Best European City for Foreign Direct Investment Promotion” thanks to René s aim to win FDI Magazine s top award after being in the top 5 a couple of times.

In 2012 he co-founded Newten Ventures GmbH, a Berlin based Seed Capital Investment Firm. He still connects Berlin´s vibrant start up scene with the Silicon Valley and supports the portfolio companies.

In late 2014 Newten Ventures funded their biggest venture yet - the BigRep GmbH- manufacturer of the world largest FDM 3D printer. René had the lead as Managing Partner of the venture.
After 6 months of supporting the „lift off“of BigRep he decided to fully commit to 3D printing and has been CEO ever since.
Today after almost 3 years BigRep has over 70 fulltime staffers and received over €10 Mio in funding. BigRep printers are found almost on every continent and with Offices in Berlin, Brooklyn USA and Singapore the company is a well-known global player in this young industry.
