Achim Berg is Operational Partner at General Atlantic, an US based growth investor. Before that he was CEO at Arvato and member of the Bertelsmann Executive Board, responsible for the strategy and operative business of Bertelsmann’s largest division with its 73,000 employees. Before joining arvato, he spent six years at Microsoft, first as General Manager Microsoft Germany and Area Vice President Microsoft International, then as Corporate Vice President for the Windows Phone division at the U.S. corporate headquarters. In this role, he headed the Windows Phone business and related services, and was later responsible for the operator channels unit, working with mobile communications providers, cable and media companies. Prior to this, Berg sat on the Executive Board of T-Com, Europe's largest telecommunications company, where he was responsible for the marketing and sales of landlines. He was a member of the Supervisory Board of T-Mobile and of Matav (the largest telecommunications company in Hungary). From 1999 to 2001, Berg was Chairman & CEO of Fujitsu Siemens Computers GmbH. Between 1995 and 1999 he held successive executive positions in Sales at the computer manufacturer Dell Deutschland GmbH, most recently as Director for its SME business. Berg began his career in 1989, working in various sales positions for Bull AG in Cologne until 1994. Berg is also President of BITKOM, Germany’s Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media. He holds several board seats, eg Allianz D, Giesecke & Devrient, Flixbus (Chairman). Berg completed his studies in computer science in 1989 in Cologne. He also completed the European Potential Management Program at the European Economic School (EAP, Paris, London, Madrid, Rome, and Berlin).
